SHAZAM! - April 5th ANTICIPATION LEVEL: EXCITED The first DC movie of '19 centers around a young orphan named Billy Batson who is granted amazing powers by a wizard. With the utterance of one word, "SHAZAM!" he is turned into an adult superhero. This hero back then was called Captain Marvel before Marvel took ownership of the title for their own hero. But even taking that out, this movie, despite looking like a superhero version of Big , looks like a ton of fun! For those who are tired of DC movies trying to be dark and serious, this feels like a breath of fresh air, going for its own distinct tone, much like Aquaman bringing in colorful visuals and epicness. Seems like DC and Warner Bros. have learned their lesson. Zachary Levi might be the Superman that I wanted but never got with Henry Cavill. This is a new feature where I'll be talking about the movies I'm excited or curious about on a monthly basis. CAPTAIN MARVEL - March 8th ANTICIPATION LEVEL: EXCITED This is it. Marvel's first feature of 2019! As some of you know, I am an MCU fanatic so I look forward to every movie they release. And the fact that this is their first female-led superhero film is another reason why I look forward to it. For the record, I decided that I will abstain myself from watching any trailers or promos for all the upcoming releases from Marvel Studios. I'm doing this because I've seen trailers that looked awesome but the movies turned out to be disappointing. Examples include Age of Ultron and Thor The Dark World . Perhaps it's a good thing I've been avoiding the trailers because people aren't that impressed by the marketing.
